    Abstract: Toponymy is the science which studies of geographical names (toponyms), their origins, meaning, development, current status, spelling and pronunciation. This integrated scientific discipline is at the interface and uses the data of the three fields of knowledge: geography, history and linguistics. This study discusses the toponymic field of Tatar folk riddles. It identifies the ethno-cultural features of Tatar riddles with topocomponent.
