The music shows a uniformity phenomenon on one hand and diversity phenomenon on the other. The uniformity phenomenon is reflected through the same tendency on the part of Minangkabau people to treat the music. The diversity phenomenon is reflected through the variety of community members who treat the music. Looking at this way, convention is a driving factor that forms the phenomenon of uniform talempong music and the diverse phenomenon of talempong music is formed due to the non-existence of convention among the Minangkabau people.
