The implementation of PBF mechanisms has recently become a hot topic in the education sector worldwide which also fetches high rise of interest for researchers and policymakers to work on it. However, there are almost none of the studies have discussed about the applicability of PBF in Malaysia. This study aims to investigate the applicability of PBF mechanisms in the Malaysian context through Malaysian public universities perspective. In this study, the applicability of PBF mechanisms will be discussed in the context of agency theory.
