AB  - This study analyses the factors that predetermine the trust in mass media and state institutions in the Czech Republic. The empirical evidence is based on the analysis of trust in several types of mass media (print newspapers, TV and radio). Researchers find strong evidence for the fact that the general public in the Czech Republic does not depict much trust in printed media (newspapers and magazines) while television and radio enjoy somewhat higher degree of confidence. In addition, researchers find that trust in mass media is statistically significantly related to the satisfaction with current political situation and life satisfaction in general. Moreover, citizens who trust mass media are also likely to show higher level of trust in law enforcement and governmental institutions. Furthermore, the results show that wealthier citizens report lower confidence in mass media.
