This is evidenced by the significant amount of research written and published in journal special issues. In response to this trend, the present study has two objectives-first, it offers to provide an overview of literature concerning knowledge types and knowledge acquisition in the context of supply chain management discussed in 47 papers from the years 2001-2013. Second, it develops a conceptual framework that summarizes this field of research into four parts. Initially, knowledge types and AI techniques are highlighted which leads to two specific perspectives: supply chain knowledge and automation of knowledge acquisition for supply chain management. Companies’ practitioners and academics may avail of the review as it provides an overview of the fundamental research streams in the area. It then explains certain features of knowledge acquisition in the context of supply chains and the existing research limitations which could lead to future studies. ER -
