TY - JOUR T1 - A Comparison on Some Features of Queens Reared from Different Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) Genotypes AU - , Ahmet Dodologlu AU - , Ferat Genc JO - Journal of Animal and Veterinary Advances VL - 2 IS - 5 SP - 275 EP - 278 PY - 2003 DA - 2001/08/19 SN - 1680-5593 DO - javaa.2003.275.278 UR - https://makhillpublications.co/view-article.php?doi=javaa.2003.275.278 KW - AB - In this research, four groups of queens were reared from the pure breed Caucasian and Anatolian honeybees and their crossbreds using artificial insemination technique and Doolittle method. Then, the yield of grafting, the period up to the pre-oviposition and queen weights in the pre-oviposition and post-oviposition periods were analyzed and compared depending upon genotype of reared queens. While 80 % of the inseminated larvae in the Caucasian group was accepted and properly fed by the bees, this rate was 83.33 % in the Anatolian group. It was concluded that the queens from the pure-breed and hybrid Anatolian genotypes began oviposition later than Caucasian queens and differences among the groups in terms of pre-oviposition and post-oviposition weights of the queens were not significant.
