The results indicated that the value of ammonia nitrogen to total nitrogen ratio, the contents of volatile fatty acid, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber were decreased significantly with the decrease of moisture content whereas the content of dry matter, crude protein and water-soluble carbohydrate were increased significantly. It was concluded that moisture content at a level of 65% was best for Italian ryegrass silage.} }
